Consider one another
as more important than yourself!

Consider one another as more important than yourself! (Phil 2:3) — only few people have paid attention to these New Testament words we received through Paul the Apostle!

And how important they are for everyone who wants to get closer to the spiritual Perfection, to God!

One should carefully analyze the properties of oneself-soul — and repent of all one’s past ethical mistakes which, in particular, violated this Commandment!

Such work of repentance and purification must be performed to such a degree that one loses even the ability to unreasonably infringe upon the ethical principle in question.

… But this is not all. One must also be able to recognize those cases in which it would be inappropriate to follow this Commandment. This can happen, for example, when children engage in inappropriate and dangerous mischief, or in situations of contacts with criminals or the weak-minded…

It would be good to think over all these things beforehand, to “mentally analyze” all the possible scenarios in order not to be caught unawares later during the real tests of our ethical purity offered to us by God.

Affirming oneself in the reasonable application of this Commandment establishes in us the basis of humility, first, in relationships with other people, and then — on this basis — with God.

God does not allow the unhumble to approach Himself!

And one more thought on this subject: let us analyze the connection of this Commandment with other Commandments given to us by God. We will see how much more effective self-purification becomes when they are applied to ourselves together.
